Poem: Choosing Me

 Choosing Me

In a place where love is promised, but actions fall astray,

You find yourself yearning for a love that's here to stay.

They claim to hate the thought of losing you, but their efforts, they don't show,

And you're left to wonder, "Is this love real, or just for show?"

They say they're not ready, but expect you to wait,

As you sacrifice for them, they keep you on a plate.

You're their priority, but you're also an option,

And this love that was once pure, is slowly becoming a delusion.

You fight for love, believing it's worth the battle,

But it takes two, you realize, to build a stable.

You're giving your all, but they're only giving parts,

And a love that's one-sided, is bound to tear at the hearts.

They claim to love and care, but still, you're left confused,

For if they truly loved you, they'd never leave you to snooze.

You deserve someone who sees you as their equal,

Who meets you halfway and treats you as a jewel.

Walking away is hard, but staying is no solution,

For by staying with them, you're dishonoring your devotion.

It's time for you to make a difficult decision,

To put yourself first and seek a love, not an illusion.

You deserve to be with someone who values you,

Who sees your worth, and never makes you blue.

You deserve a love that's pure and true,

And a partner who knows, just what you can do.

So, be brave and take the leap of faith,

In the end, it's better to have loved and grieved,

Than to live a life full of regret and deceit,

For you deserve to be happy, complete.
