Poem: Coward Before My Words

 Coward Before My words

In a world where words hold power, where silence is gold, You spew your venom, your poison, unsolicited and bold. Your every utterance, a dagger, sharp and unkind, A relentless assault, on my spirit, leaving it blind.

Don't they tell you, if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all? But you, you ignore this wisdom, and watch as I fall. You trample my efforts, my labor of love, A thoughtless, careless, and cruel, gift from above.

Oh, how I wish you'd tone it down, just for a while, To give my heart room, to breathe, to smile. But your ignorance, it knows no bounds, A deep, dark void, where empathy drowns.

Do you ever stop, to consider my feelings, before you speak? Or is it your nature, to be cruel, to be weak? A coward, behind your words, afraid to face, The consequences of your actions, the disgrace.

You're not an expert, in the craft, or in me, So why do you infer, as if you can see? My thoughts, my feelings, my heart's deepest core, You can't comprehend, what you've never explored.

Oh, how I wish you'd tone it down, just for a while, To give my heart room, to breathe, to smile. But your ignorance, it knows no bounds, A deep, dark void, where empathy drowns.

So, I implore you, before you speak, To think, to consider, to reflect. For words are a gift, a sacred trust, A tool to uplift, to inspire, to adjust.

And if you can't say something, that's kind and true, Then it's better to stay quiet, and offer your respect.
