Personally, and this is something I feel quite strongly about, it feels like the moment a mother welcomes a son into the world, the die is cast for him to forge his own path to manhood. Let me be clear: it is not a mother's responsibility, not a sister's, not a girlfriend's, and certainly not a wife's responsibility to turn a boy into a man. That journey, with all its triumphs and stumbles – including whether he chooses to cheat, be rude, or become something less than honorable – rests squarely on his own shoulders. It's his and his alone to navigate.

Now, let me be clear: this isn't saying men shouldn't work hard or shouldn't be held accountable. The value of effort and the necessity of owning one's actions are clear. But it's about recognizing that sometimes, the way they're raised inadvertently conditions them to suppress their emotions, to believe that vulnerability is weakness. They're often expected to just be men, a definition that can feel rigid and unforgiving, without always being given the tools to understand themselves or process the complexities of life. From where I stand, it seems like this can create a lonely and challenging path.

The truth is, you don't know every man's story, but that doesn't excuse him for making mistakes with other people. Ultimately, he has to work on his own character. Yet, acknowledging the pressures and the often emotionally barren landscapes some men navigate can foster a deeper understanding, not as an excuse, but as a reality I've observed.
