The Words Never Said (poem)
The Words Never Said
The air hangs heavy, a shroud I wear,
A language unspoken, a burden to bear.
My lips sealed tight, a fortress of stone,
On words I’ve never uttered, on truths left unknown.
They cling to me, these phantoms of sound,
Though no echo of them has ever been found.
And this one, this ghost, it follows me still,
A whisper in shadows, against my own will.
A tapestry woven, of moments and years,
Yet this single thread ignites all their fears.
A dragon untamed, a quest unbegun,
While battles more vital have long been outrun.
The world spins with purpose, with fire and grace,
But this silent confession, it haunts this one place.
A simple omission, a choice I have made,
Is it truly so wicked, this fear I’ve displayed?
The weight of the unsaid, a curious art,
A hole in the story, a void in the heart.
I’ve faced down my demons, I've climbed mountains high,
But this one quiet moment, it draws every eye.
And why should it matter, this phrase on the breeze?
Does its absence not offer a different kind of ease?
And when, and if ever, it finally takes flight,
Won't its rarity make it a beacon of light?
For the one who deserve it, the one I hold dear,
To break this long silence, to make it crystal clear.
Not a casual offering, tossed to the wind,
But a treasure discovered, where journeys begin.
So the tales they will tell, of the words I withheld,
Let them ponder the depths, where true feelings are dwelled.
For in this vast silence, a promise is spun,
And one day, to the
one who truly has won,
I love you.
