Who She is Because of Her (poem)

Who She Is Because of Her

They dealt in promises, built on sand, cheap and thin.

Lines delivered fast, lies I knew would never win.

The bed is cold now, yeah, I feel the empty space.

I’m aware you’re not here, the future is an unclear place.

But I bet the odds against everything, I always did.

I’m not naive, though. I know the truth that my heart hid.

It’s sad because I was used to that Same Old Love,

The kind of tired pain that tears you up, sent from above.

I had to drop the weight, cut the anchor that was tied.

I had to Lose You To Love Me—there was nowhere left to hide.

You said I love you. But it was a different face every time.

Not once, not twice, but three times—a repetitive crime.

It’s okay. I knew the score. I always knew you were a bad liar.

You want to keep your hands clean? That won't extinguish the fire.

They could choose right, but why would they want to?

Everything you showed me was good for you—but that wasn't true.

Still, I tried to make it through, because I knew the inner game:

I know The Heart Wants What It Wants, even when it screams your name.

My mother said: Go after what you want.

Maybe I was aiming wrong, focused on the wrong front.

Life waits for no one. I heard the clock click loud and fast.

I’m going to get it. I’m making this moment last.

And if you want me, you better come and chase. You better come and get it.

I have slowed down, yeah, but when it’s close to the end,

I don’t mind pressing rewind just to see where it began.

That’s the only way to understand what the damage has done,

To recognize the battle that was truly won.

I’ve had enemies, haters, stalkers, and exes that cut deep.

But they don't break my orbit. My commitment I keep.

I Kill Em With Kindness, then pivot, then walk away.

And I always end up back to myself, because I know I stay true.

Watch me now. I’m putting on that dress, lacing up those shoes.

I will be Single Soon. No shame in the choice I choose.

I’m doing what I want, making everything right, standing under my own sun.

Look at her now. She is rare.

She doesn't need anyone to tell her that she's breathing high-grade air.

She knows it. She owns it.

She has the high school diploma, the Bachelor Degree—

The paperwork and the wisdom to back up everything she is meant to be.

Look at her now. Unafraid of the things she has lived through.

The woman she built herself into.

It can be a year without rain, a wildfire, a shaking door,

And nothing phases her now. That resilience? That’s amazing.

She is full of so much magic and self-contained greatness.

Wait till she fully turns her love on.

It is a beautiful, world-shattering, honest thing.

It will blind the darkness.

It will heal the scars.

It is the start of everything.
